From Where you Live, to How You Live
Building a fully custom home should feel exciting, not overwhelming. At 402 Customs, we believe that the best homes begin with understanding the people who live in them: how you spend your time, what matters to you, what you love about your current home, and what you don't.
Our process brings architecture, interior design, construction, and project management together, so you always know where you are, what comes next, and why each decision matters.
Timeline start to finish · ~9–12 months
1. Start With Your Vision
Before we start drawing your plans, we like to sit down and listen. Your first meeting at our design center is an opportunity to step away from floor plans and finish selections and focus on the bigger picture: how you plan to spend your time, the spaces that matter to your family, and how you want your home to feel. We talk through your lifestyle, priorities, goals, budget, and vision for the new home, then begin translating the way you live into the way your home should work.
Timeline · 1 week
2. Finding the Right Place
The right home starts with the right setting. Whether you already own a lot or are searching for the perfect place to build, we help you understand how the property will influence the design of your home. Location, lot characteristics, views, orientation, neighborhood, and budget all play a role in creating the right foundation. We help you understand what is possible before you commit, so your home and your property work together.
Timeline · 1–3 weeks

3. Design Your Home
Working alongside our design team, we begin developing the architecture of your home around the way you want to live. Room by room, connection by connection, we consider how the home should function, how it should feel, and how it should respond to its setting. Together we explore the layout, exterior character, scale, flow, natural light, outdoor living spaces, and the details that make the home uniquely yours. The goal is a home that feels like it could only belong to you.
Timeline · 4–8 weeks
4. Refine the Interior
Once the overall design begins to take shape, we turn our attention to the details that bring it to life. Working alongside our interior design team at Gotcha Covered, you make selections for cabinetry, flooring, tile, plumbing fixtures, lighting, countertops, appliances, paint, hardware, window treatments, and more. Because every decision is connected, our designers help you create a cohesive look throughout the home. Detailed timelines and frequent communication help keep you organized and on track.
Timeline · 4–8 weeks

5. Build With Confidence
Once your plans and selections are finalized, construction on your new home begins. This is where our team brings the vision to reality. Behind the scenes, we coordinate the schedules, trades, materials, inspections, and countless details required to build a custom home. Throughout the process, we focus on the things that matter most: craftsmanship, communication, accountability, and doing what we said we would do.
Timeline · 5 to 9 months
6. Experience the Build
Stay connected from the first wall to the final detail. Throughout construction, our designer remains a consistent point of contact, while site logs and regular communication keep you informed on progress and what is coming next. Our project manager is frequently on site, overseeing the work and making sure the details are executed as planned. A rough-ins walkthrough lets you review details like outlet and switch locations before the walls are closed up, followed by a completion walkthrough, a detailed punch list, and a final wrap-up walkthrough before move-in.

7. Welcome Home
There is something special about opening the door to a home designed around your life. At closing, we hand over the keys and welcome you into your new home. And our relationship does not end there.
We're Still Here
Our relationship does not end when you move in. Through 402 Customs, Gotcha Covered, and 402 Realty Group at Nebraska Realty, you have a team that can continue to help you make the most of your home long after construction is complete.
Whether your needs change, your family grows, or the time comes to move on, our team can help you improve, personalize, prepare, and navigate the next chapter with the same attention to design and quality that went into building your home.
